Bandura’s Social Learning Theory or Observational Learning Theory
Observer’s behavior changes after viewing the behavior of a model in a particular environment — direct interaction with the model is not necessary
VICARIOUS REINFORCEMENT: Observer’s behavior is affected by the positive and/or negative consequences the model experiences as a result of his or her behavior.
IDENTIFICATION/ ADMIRATION: Observer’s imitation of the model is more likely if the model possesses characteristics the observer finds attractive or like themselves.
Social learning theory explains human behavior in terms of continuous reciprocal interaction between cognitive, behavioral, and environmental influences.
